Lamorna Society

The group photo was taken in May 2005 when 30 members of the Lamorna Society spent a weekend in West Sussex. Here they are in the garden of Charleston Farmhouse on a bright, blustery, Saturday morning. The photo was taken in the garden after a tour of the house where they learned how Leonard and Virginia Woolf’s search for a country retreat for Virginia’s sister, Vanessa Bell, had led them to Charleston with the result that Vanessa and her family, together with Duncan Grant and his partner David Garnett took the lease of the house in 1916.
