New Sign for Boathouse

Jerry Thompson took his life in his hands to erect the new sign for the Newlyn Archive on the Boathouse, using the brackets that had once held the old post office sign. After much consultation with the committee Jerry has designed and created the most wonderful emblem for our archive. The three images on the sign represent an artist’s palette, a fishing boat and the Newlyn Lighthouse. They highlight the history of Newlyn and point to the fine record of events that we hold in the archive. The colour red signifies the recent history of this old Boathouse, being the colour of the post office that occupied the building before the Harbour Commissioners kindly made it available to the Archive. The sign was erected on Friday October 21, 2021
